Elderly Client

It is always a difficult time when a loved one loses the capacity to manage their own affairs. Often this will also be the time when they lose their memory and cease to recognise family members, adding to the distress. Family members will want to spend their time looking after the loved one and ensure that they get the care and support they need.

We are able to take away the administrative burden and provide support to family members at this difficult time of dealing with their affairs.

Our Wealth Management Team is able to provide advice to clients on setting up Lasting Powers of Attorney whilst they are still capable of doing so. If however someone has lost capacity without having either an Enduring Power of Attorney or a Lasting Power of Attorney in place then it is necessary to apply to the Court for a Deputy to be appointed. We are able to provide support in making an application to the Court.

We are also able to provide support in dealing with welfare benefits claims, local authority funding, tax returns, sale of property, investment of funds, preparation of annual accounts, payment of day to day bills.

Of course everybody’s circumstances are different and all clients and their families have very different needs. The level of our involvement would depend on the client's circumstances and support needs. We would be happy to discuss this at the outset and continue to review this support as time progresses.

"Our aim is not to control client’s lives but instead to empower clients and their families to make appropriate decisions and to remove the administrative burden from them at what is already a difficult time."
